Parking
The Spectrum has opened their ample parking garage accessible from Pennsylvania Ave or Broad St. You can use this parking while you attend classes at Sacred Well. There is an elevator in the garage to bring you to street level.
Being new to yoga and trying to find the right studio can be a challenge. At Sacred Well we have classes for the beginning to advanced student. I designed the studio like a school so that as you progress there is more to challenge you. Most students attend the Level 1 class for two semesters then move to Level 1-2 and so on. As your flexibility and strength grow then the more advanced asanas become safer for you to attempt and easier for you to do.
We have all the equipment you will need to take class. You will want to buy a mat at some point and we recommend certain mats that we have found to be very good. We also have a booklet for you so you can start developing that all-important home practice. At first you will only need to do about a half-hour practice at home then as you acquire more knowledge you will find it easy and enjoyable to practice more on your own.
Buy Your Own Yoga Mat
In the studio we have yoga mats for your use. However, we recommend that you purchase your own mat. Here are two of our favorites:
"Yoga Nidra really is powerful. This morning my BP was down to 105/71. I haven't seen a reading like this since I was a child. It's just so amazing to see concrete evidence of the mind's effect on the body. I'm going to give your CDs as Christmas gifts because there really isn't a better expression of love than helping someone to relax like that. Thanks so much for all you do for all the SW students."
This class is designed to enable the yoga student to deepen his/her meditation practice. First we do a Pawanmuktasana practice, which is a group of asanas that remove blockages that prevent the free flow of energy in the body and mind. Our vitality becomes blocked due to bad posture, psychological or emotional problems, and an imbalanced lifestyle. The bulk of the classl consists of Yoga Nidra, a practice which induces complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Through this practice we are not only relaxing but restructuring and reforming our whole being. We finish the class with meditation practice.
