Registration

TO REGISTER: Mail or bring your registration form to the Center. Registrations will be accepted on a first come basis. A minimum number of students are required for the class to be held.

Refunds: SWYS will refund tuition when extenuating circumstances arise minus a $35 administrative fee that is not refundable or transferable to another session.

  • If you miss a class you can make it up in any other class that is your level. Yoga classes cannot be made up in classes and vice versus. Missed classes can be made up at any time during the current session but cannot be carried over to another session.
  • Make-ups can be made in advance of an anticipated absence.

Class Descriptions
Yoga 1
In this class we will focus on the Hatha Yoga fundamentals of basic alignment, breath and awareness. The Asanas (postures) are designed to increase overall flexibility, enhancing balance, and strength of the spine, legs, torso and arms. Mindfulness is a quality that we learn to have in our yoga practice so that we can carry it into our daily life. This class is for the beginner or returning level 1 student as it is recommended that a student repeat this level at least once.

Yoga 1-2
We will be increasing our awareness of the body, alignment and ability to create a flow with the breath in the Asanas. Endurance and poise are increased as one�s body becomes accustomed to the Asanas. Students will learn the steps for shoulderstand and beginning backbends. Suitable for the continuing level 1 student and those who have had yoga before, this is an important level and may be one that is repeated.

Yoga 2
In this class we will continue to refine all the various Asanas, as well as backbending poses, and the shoulderstand. We also begin the practice and understanding of the headstand. At this level the student will attain a balance of flexibility and strength which is needed to continue on the path of Hatha Yoga.

Yoga 2-3
In this level we are increasing strength and stamina in a wider variety of Asanas to continue opening and strengthening the body. This class will include shoulderstands, backbends, headstands and forearm balances. A regular home practice is highly suggested.

Yoga 3
This is an advanced class which demands a daily home yoga practice. Included in this class will be a wide variety of Asanas including inversions such as shoulderstands, handstands, headstands, as well as backbends and forearm balances. Yoga Nidra and beginning kriya work are also taught at this level. *Instructor permission is required to attend this class.

Yoga Nidra
This is a special class which will consist of Yoga Nidra, a practice which induces complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. During the practice one is staying aware and rotating the consciousness in the body, or on the breath, or the mind. Through this practice we are not only relaxing but restructuring and reforming our whole being. Yoga Nidra has many health benefits, one being more energy. We will conclude the class with meditation practice as Yoga Nidra prepares the mind and body for a deeper, fuller experience of concentration and meditation.

Gentle Yoga

This class is ideal for seniors and students with injuries, physical disabilities, or a limited range of movement. Learn basic yoga principles of body awareness in movement, specific joint work and postural alignment integrated with breath. Includes gentle standing, seated, and reclining poses relaxation and meditation.

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa is movement synchronized with the breath, the flowing of poses evolving much like a dance. Designed for intermediate students who enjoy the challenge of exploring a few of the more demanding poses, and an opportunity to practice the 8 limbs, exploring the fundamentals of asana practice.
